Our Exhibits
With the turn of a key, the power of air gives flight to soft scarves and balls through a variety of clear tubes! By turning a couple of knobs, the direction and exit location can be changed – making science entertaining and fun!
Our ambulance has enough room for both the paramedics and patient, and includes a phone with a direct line to the Hometown Hospital! As they "drive" to the hospital, children see scenes from the local community.
This engine is the perfect size for children to climb aboard and make believe they are an engineer. With activities on the outside of the engine as well, this giant Brio train is a visitor favorite!
From princess to firefighter costumes, plus shoes, hats and accessories -- children of all ages love playing dress-up!
New in 2011, our grocery store is full of opportunities for educational play! With its two child-size checkout counters, registers, and shopping carts, as well as a separate bakery, produce, dairy, and dry goods sections, children learn about making healthy food decisions and practice money/change-making skills.
Sponsored by Mercy Medical Center, our Hometown Hospital has everything visitors need to treat their “patients” -- from an admissions desk, two exam tables, two nursery beds, as well as scrubs, crutches, a walker and a phone that can communicate with the Ambulance.
We have over 10,000 KAPLA blocks -- the largest amount of any museum in Iowa! Be inspired by our variety of amazing KAPLA Block creations on display. No glue or nails required, just plenty of imagination!
Three holes of miniature golf are waiting for you to practice your putting. The course looks like a zoo with the lion, elephant, zebra and giraffe guarding the greens!
This travelling exhibit is made up of 12 hands-on stations designed to simulate space travel and exploration! Made for students 5 to 13 years old, visitors can have fun while learning about chemistry and science.
